We are moving onward and upward to a new school year here, and that meant both saying goodbye to the old students and getting our school ready for new kids. It also meant for us a merger with another school, so we rearranged the rooms and schedules, and had a day of cleaning an decorating. I have never in my life used a laminator as extensively as I used it in the week leading up to the first day of school. But now our classrooms are beautiful! Well maybe not by now, it sure got beat up quickly...
I was in charge of teaching the graduating students a performance piece for Graduation. Heather found a rewrite of New York, New York that was super cute and cheesy with First grade-themed lyrics. I added some cute moves, and about halfway through the "rehearsal process" decided, you know what? They are going to do this as if it was a whole theatrical ordeal. So I started using theatre terms and gave them "notes" after each practice, and by golly, they shaped up! I was so impressed with them, they even learned to bow by thinking "Did I tie my shoe? Yes, I did"! haha It's the little things, right? They were pretty adorable though, check out the cuteness, seriously:
Here are the photos Taggart took of the graduating students! We will miss these cuties, they were sure fun to teach, even though they weren't our classes. Good luck in 1st grade!

Heather had to pose for so many pictures! My favorite thing about that day was that Joy got gifted a huge present, and the family insisted that the pictures be taken with it... Memories, right? haha
We sure miss those cuties, but at least most of them come for afternoon classes, so we still get to see them!
